Joshua Quinlan

Artistic Director & Principal Conductor

Joshua Quinlan is a British conductor and composer, who has performed in prestigious venues nationally, including the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, the CBSO Centre in Birmingham and London’s Royal Albert Hall, along with numerous other venues at home and further afield. As a composer, Joshua’s portfolio includes commissions from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Tate Modern and Wilfred Owen Foundation, along with performances by the Royal Philharmonic and National Youth Choirs of Great Britain.

He has significant experience with working with both choirs and orchestras, having performed as a clarinettist and baritone to a high level in both fields; he still regularly performs professionally alongside many of the UK’s top choirs and orchestras. This has put him in the unique position to produce outstanding performances with both ensembles, and he especially enjoys repertoire written for both ensembles to perform together.
Joshua’s music is published by Apollo Edition, an organisation which Sinfonia Borealis regularly partners with.
